the rain came down like confetti
These two hearts embraced the weather, and each other, on a Fall morning at Wedding Rock in Sue-Meg State Park. Letting go of their umbrellas to hold hands instead, they were wed by the bride's Uncle and the rain came down like confetti.
Trinidad is known for the beauty of it's rocky coastline and it is always a stunning background... in the fog, in the mist, and in the rain. After we were done capturing photographs at the wedding site, we wandered into the lush greenery of the park's trees and ferns.

how to prepare for a rainy wedding day
Humboldt County's weather can be unpredictable so it's always good to have a plan for rain.
First thing to do is go with it and don't let a little water dampen your joy. As quickly as it blows in, it can blow out for a while. By the time we captured the last of the portraits for these two, the rain had given way to fog and even some sunshine.
Clear umbrellas are your best friend! They allow the light to shine through like windows on a greenhouse. I always have two on hand for clients to use and I encourage everyone with rain in their wedding forecast to pick some up for themselves and their wedding parties.
This couple rented a tent which kept their guests cozy while waiting for the reception to begin. I've also worked with couples who bought new tents to resell later. Whichever approach you take, a tent can be a really good thing to have on hand just in case.
Lastly, you'll need a photographer who can still create beautiful photographs in tough conditions. My cameras are weather sealed and I'm used to propping an umbrella over myself while shooting. A little atmospheric river is no match for me.
